What hair straightener works the best and harms the hair the least?

The GHD Styler is the be all and end all of Hair Salon tools.

Ceramic plates protect the hair and spread heat evenly, they heat up super quick and super hot and they always do an amazing job. They're reasonably priced too!

Always make sure you use a thermal spray on your hair before straightening and styling though (you can pick these up cheap at the supermarket)What hair straightener works the best and harms the hair the least?
Ghd. Although they are expensive they are the best. I reccomend you save up and get any version of them,

they are really good.

They don't harm your hair as much as other straighteners, but I do suggest you use Heat Protection Spray before use.

Hope this helps

From Kitty xxWhat hair straightener works the best and harms the hair the least?
GHD generally don't harm. And GHD is the best hair straightener i can say.
ALL Hair straightners(including the GHD.) will harm your hair the same. Use a heat protector, But it will only protect your hair to a point.
well i don't think that can really happen. just use heat protector spray for the hair before straightening.
Every One harms hair to fair extent
GHD, definitely. That always sorts out curly hair.

What Hair Straightener Would You Recommend?

I'm looking for a good hair straightener that doesn't cost a bomb but does an effective job. What Hair Straightener Would You Recommend?
Hey :-)

Okay, I have been researching hair straighteners for like a month. You need to decide for yourself but the top seem to be Sedu and ghd. I know you may have NEVER heard of ';Sedu'; because it is sold exclusively through the world's largest online beauty store. Folica.com

You need to look for one with:

*** Toumaline technology (hair naturally produces positive ions, but toumaline produces extra negative ions and therefore smooths the hair cuticle and means less damage is done)

*** Look for a ceramic (NOT cermaic coated, it has to be all ceramic) plate straightener with Tourmaline infused into the plates.

I e-mailed ghd and they do NOT use toumaline (t-or-ma-line). Also they do not have adjustable heat settings so it remains at a constant high temperature which is NOT good for all hair types.

***So look for adjustable temperature.

*** A good straightener (or ';flat iron';) goes to minimum 200 degrees Celcius.

*** A swivel cord so that it doesn't get tangled and annoy you while straightening.

-I have heard that the brand 'CHI' is VERY BAD, some have CAUGHT on FIRE!! (Seriosuly see link%26gt; http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtm/a> ). People just tell you to buy them because they are popular, not good quality!

Check out Sedu straighteners (which have all the above features) at: http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Flat__360_1.h/a>

All the best :-)What Hair Straightener Would You Recommend?
i know the CHI works really good and theirs a 10 yr warenty it,

its a bit pricey though.

around a 100 buks.

but buying a good staightener and a realy good seerum can do a good job at straighting ur hair

good luck :)
I must recommend GHD. I have been using this.
iso turbo silk..it's only about 50 bucks and far less damaging to your hair than all the others...
I have a GHD and it was the best $300 I ever spent...

But if moneys an issue...go for a remington or VS Sassoon

Has anyone recycled their old/faulty ghd hair straighteners (www.ghdspares.com) and received the promised 拢20?

Hi, I have just bought new ghd straighteners from the official retailer, but have an old faulty pair. I have looked online and a website offer 拢20 for your faulty ghd 's (www.ghdspares.com). Has anyone ever used this recycling facility and is it legit?Has anyone recycled their old/faulty ghd hair straighteners (www.ghdspares.com) and received the promised 拢20?
Hi

Its quite good... a lot of places are doing this now espeically with mobile phones.... its to encourage people to recycle but with a lot of them they fix them and re sell them so they make money too.

Another option would be to get them fixed there are a lot of stores now about that actually fix GHDS. You could re sell them opn ebay then.

What's the best flat iron/hair straightener out there?

So I've got a flat iron that's old as dirt, and it's starting to die out on me. I need a new one.

Has anyone heard about a straightener that is really good, or do you have a flat iron that you swear by?

I'd really appreciate it if you added a link to a site where I could order it!

Thankss! What's the best flat iron/hair straightener out there?
www.folica.com has a lot of good ones. I have a Sedu that I love. Everyone seems to think Chi is great too, but they are expensive. What's the best flat iron/hair straightener out there?
SOLIA!!!

No one has ever really heard of them, and i don't know why, because i have one and it works EXTREMELY well! it works just as well as a CHI but it's cheaper, plus chi's break so easily. like everyone i know that's had a chi has had it break soonish. which sucks! cuz they paid so much for it! but anyway, yeah get a solia. i got mine from folica.com and it works so well, i couldn't have asked for a better one.

but whatver you do...

do not get one from target or walmart! i destroyed my hair with those. like seriously i only have about half the hair i used to have. and my hair was not thick to begin with. D:

solia solia solia :D
I personally have a FHI and LOVE it. A CHI is also really good, so either of those will work wonders for you!! You can get them at a local salon or even Target carries CHI, its about 150.00 to 200.00 but totally worth the money!

http://www.target.com/CHI-Adjustable-Tur/a>
I have a Babyliss Pro and I love it(although I noticed this morning that there's a tag on the cord that says ';not for home use';, my hairdresser aunt got it for me with her discount). It has different temperature settings so it's great for my thin hair or my roommates really thick hair.
CHI.

That'll probably be the most popular answer, because it's true. It's about $100 and it's sold at alot of beauty salons and pretty much all over..
the sedu is the absolute best don't have one but i have seen the top 10 list its #1. you can get it at folica.com.
I heard Revlon's was good.

Looking for some decent hair straighteners?!?

    Hello!

I'm looking for some decent hair straighteners for under 拢50.

Not bothered about the make, but they need to be really good!

My hair is flicky, wavey, sometimes curly. It goes however it wants!

I currently have Babyliss ones, but they are about 3 years old, and they are starting to not warm up!

So, can you give me any advice about the best hair straighteners out there for under 拢50.

    In England.

Thanks, I'll choose a best answer also.Looking for some decent hair straighteners?!?
i know people say to get GHDs but i compared mine with a friends' pair of GHDs and we both thought mine were better -

    babyliss pro 230

theyr really good, cheap, warm up really fast and wont burn your hair (unless you keep them in the same place for 5mins lol)

also advise you use heat protection spray... i use wella... bit more expensive but lasts ages cos u hardly need any, just one squirt every time you straightenLooking for some decent hair straighteners?!?
i say the GVP it is like the same as the CHI just way cheaper on the box it actually is compared to the CHI
Perhaps you should spend a little more and get one that will last more than 3 years. I use GHD. (stands for good hair day)
you can get straightners in the market for way way less than 拢50. for example, if u live in nottingham u can get straightners in the victoria centre market for even less than 拢20 and they are good. i have one and it heats quick and it also does the job good.
tbh your best bet for straighteners is the ghd's but they tend to be very expensive (拢150-拢200). otherwise I'd suggest Remington's. if my memory serves me correctly, i think they've got new ones out the have silk proteins in them to help stop your hair frizzing or going static. i may have the brand wrong tho. there's an ad on tv

i know how irritating it can be when straightening, i have similar hair to you, it goes mad the second any sign of moisture comes anywhere near it.
    well u can buy

    babyliss,

    nicky clarke,

    braun,

    remington

    vivdal sassoon,

    morhpy richards (sale)

for all under 拢50 that are pretty good

but personally i prefer using remington or babyliss out of all of them but currently i have tresemme and i am going to buy new ones because it doesn't straighten my hair very well and i have sort of thick longish hair.
    go on www.hairscissors.co.uk

    and get some FHI straighteners

theyre 拢50 and as good as GHD's =]

    xx
Umm... I don't know how much this would be in ';England Money';, but mine was $25. I got it from a salon. It works really good. There is also a ';one-year limited warranty'; on it. There are ten heat levels on it and it doesn't get hot on the outside. It has a plastic coating. The brand is Hot Tools. The model is 1190. The website is http://www.HelenofTroyUSA.com
I use a cricket. It was about 50$ and I have had it for 3 years now and it still works wonders. You can not get it at the store though, it is a salon brand. Good luck.
You would be better off saving up your money and getting a ghd. They cost about 鈧?00 here but they are the best. You will go through so many of the other cheaper versions it will be worth the extra in the end.
Hi hun, Braun satin hair are good they protect your hair from damage and leave it really glossy- also the Remington wet 2 straight ones are very good they leave my hair poker straight and my hair stays straight. They also save time as you can dry and straighten in one go.

    Hope this helps xx
ummm a chi at ulta! they are the best ones and they dont burn yuor hair!

Tips on how to keep my hair straightener in great shape?

hi i just bought a new Solia straightener and it was $88 so i wanna make sure it will stay in good shape and last for atleast over a year..hopefully more than one. what are some ways to keep it in great condition to ensure it wont break or get damaged?Tips on how to keep my hair straightener in great shape?
My suggestion is to avoid using gels, hair sprays, or wet hair ( even if its a wet to dry straightener ) on it. Doing that will make the heated places on the straightener all textured like sandpaper and it will split your hair.

Clean your hair straightener after usage by the end of the day. Un-plugged, most definitely. Wipes that aren't soaked in the cleaner, like wet ones, will clean off the hair product residue and the dead hair.

Consider buying a mat to lay your straightener down when its not being used so the hair straightener doesn't pickup on any bacteria or germs. Also keep it in a place you know it'll be safe, but quick to find. Like a cabinet under the sink.

    Anymore Q's you have?

Feel free to email me at lovingxangel@hotmail.comTips on how to keep my hair straightener in great shape?
NEVER forget to turn it off. And once a week, put a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and gently wipe down the plates. Most hair straighteners are self cleaning though. Oh, and never make it go to the highest temperature, so for example, if it says it can go up to 430, only set it at 410. I've had the same straightener for 3 years. Still works like new!
This is how i keep my hair really healthy and smooth...i condition it like 2 or 3 times in the shower and the first time i do it i let it sit in my hair for like 5 mins and then do that two more times hope this helps :)
i got mine like a year ago.

i would flat iron my hair everydayy

my sister said i would make it open n close to hard

but whatever....recently the cermamic part that gets hard broke =[

    lol dont do that!
keep it in the box after you're done using it. sorry that's all i know. i dont use them. lol

thanks for answering mine. yeah wake forest in winston salem
Try to keep it in a safe place where nobody knows where it's at. Get s flatiron cover to so it won't get scratched up that much
silicon serum and deep condition your hair before you do it.

Oh! and dont use it wet hair or blowdry it.
Just use it like you normally would... put it away when you're done.

It was only $88, so it doesn't really matter if it breaks quickly, though....
Do not leave it on for long periods of time and unplugg it when you are not using it
try not to accidently leave it on for hours and remember to turn it off, thats how my moms broke

I can't see by my GHD's. I got mine on ebay for 拢35!!!!
Ceramic straighteners are the best. I would say GHDs.
definitely ghds!! though they have a habbit of braking (loose wires blowing up ect.) but id say they are worth the money!
GHDs every time! The best/cheapest place I found to buy them was www.beautysleuth.co.uk. I ordered them on the Thursday morning and received them on the Friday morning. The slim ones, which I would say are ok for most types of hair except very long, cost 拢89.50 and you get a free heat mat with them (which comes in very handy because they are VERY hot!). Happy straightening!

Do ';wet to dry hair'; straighteners really damage hair?

The latest wet-to-dry hair straightener on the market that will not damage your hair is only available to professional stylists. It is a ceramic straightener with tourmaline plates. The tourmaline in the plates create negative ions and generate optimal infrared heat. This causes the water to disperse into smaller droplets that penetrate the hair shaft to keep it moist and eliminates frizz. Be aware that they are very expensive, the really good ones can run you over $160.00. If you have a friend in the business, or maybe your regular stylist, ask them if they'll purchase one for you.Do ';wet to dry hair'; straighteners really damage hair?

Do ';wet to dry hair'; straighteners really damage hair?
not all straightners damage your hair, just the wet to dry ones, trust me i learned it the hard way. now i had to cut my hair really short.
All heated appliances damage your hair. So it's really important to use heat protective products when using heated hair appliances.

Wet to dry straightners are more damaging to your hair because when your hair is wet it has more elasticity and by applying the heated appliance to wet your your weakening the hair which makes it more prone to breakage.
yes. they tottaly fry your hair.
all hair straigteners damage your hair.
well not mine instead with the ceramic iron it was improved
I have heard the wet to dry irons do damage your hair. I have curly hair and have been straightening mine for several years. I use the Maxius-Maxi Glide. It steams your hair as it straightens it, so it is adding moisture while it is working. Also you can set the temperature for your type of hair so it won't overheat it. They are a little expensive but are well worth it. My hair stylist says that she can't tell I use one, my hair is in good shape.
Yes, they do. When hair is wet, it is fragile and can be easily damaged by heat. Having said that, one should always try to dry her or his hair 95% dry and then style it.
i have very curly hair and have been straightening it for years. i don't suggest a wet to dry straightener only because it causes frizz. i blow dry my hair with an ionic blowdryer first. one of my friends is my hair stylist and i gave her money and she picked me up a professional straightener that gets VERY hot... it actually leaves your hair feeling silky since it straightens it in one swipe. its a hot tools professional iron. i would look it up on ebay. i have tried everything over the years and im very pleased with it. i actually havent had my hair trimmed since august and i dont have any split or dry ends.
i hav wet to dry staighteners n they work really gd on me n my hair isnt damanged very much but most of the time straighteners will damage ur hait
YER i wouldnt go down that lane if i was u !!
Yes!!! All straighteners cause damage, but these cause more damage than most.

They take the moisture out of your hair, along with the natural oils so it makes your hair dry and more prone to breakage. I don't suggest using one.
Yea I have one..I used it once on damp hair, and I did not like the way it turned out. If I kept using it, I'm sure it would have fried my hair. My advice; dont get it.
Yes. Its like they fry your hair, Thats why any time you put any heat on your hair you should put ';heat defence'; spray, serum ect on your hair as heat on your hair is bad. So putting straighteners on your hair when your hair is wet is SO SO bad to do. Dont be so lazy, wash and dry your hair put serum/spray on then straighten when its all dry, much much better for your hair and straightens better, a straightener isnt made to dry your hair, thats why we have hair DRYERS! xBx

What is the best kind of hair straightener to use on THIN hair?

Ok, I have really thin hair - and I can't get it to straigten. I have a conair straightener. I don't know what kind, but it's white and has one metally side and one velvet side. If your limit is about $40 than check out the flat irons at Sally's. I hated the cheap Conair's %26amp; Revlon flat irons from walmart they usually caused too much breakage when I used them in the past. I have a GVP and like it a lot, it never fails me and I had it for over a year now. Sally's sells the GVP now for $60.

This is a Jilbere de Paris these flat irons are pretty good too, you can't go wrong with them. You can check out the reviews on it too.

oh.. also, do you know anywhere i can get them cheaper??Iso hair straighteners vs solia pink straighteners?
I recently bought a new straightener. Before I bought one I did some research and was planning to buy a Chi or a Sedu straightener. They are around 200.00 to 250.00. I ended up going to Sally Beauty supply and buying one of theirs because there is a Sally store close to my house and I was anxious to buy one. It was a good decision. The straightener I bought only cost 60.00, and it is great . Everyone that uses it says it's awsome. It's a Jilbere de Paris Tourmaline series (the wide one). The skinny one would be cheaper.. I highly recommend it. God bless!!Iso hair straighteners vs solia pink straighteners?

    Best hair straighteners?

i have really thick hair and i really need new straighteners! help i don't know what to get!

    which reach the highest temperatures?

im so confuzzed XDBest hair straighteners?
GHD, they're fantastic for thick hair. They heat up fast %26amp; I find they straighten my hair so quickly. They leave it looking smooth %26amp; sleek like I've just had my hairdresser doing it. And it will still be straight the following day. Which for my thick, unruly bush of hair is amazing, lol.Best hair straighteners?
GHD's, they are expensive but they are the best. 拢119 in a salon, perhaps a little bit cheaper on ebay or somewhere x
I love the Babyliss Pro 230 Elegance 2088U, its really very good
GHD! the thin ones, i swear by it. Ive got really thinck hair aswell and GHD has always been the best for me. U can curl ur hair with hair straighteners aswell.
It really depends on how much you want to spend on your straightener!!

I found Remington was gud!! Cheap also only about 50euros!! It lasted over a year untill I broke it(my own fault!!)

    I think Revlon is useless!!!

but I think that a ghd is well worth the money at around 150euros...it'll straighten your hair perfectly and does beautiful curls also!! It doesn't break easily!! It only takes a few seconds to heat up and its the best straightener I have found because I too have really thick hair!! It really thins it out and doesn't damage your hair that much provided you use heat proctector spray that you can purchase with your GHD!!

Others feel that CHI is good!!

    Good luck!xxXXxx
    chi iron
    Chi!

or any others that cost over 100 bucks.
    GHD
i have a vs sassoon and it works absolutely awesome! i love it haha =]
I have really thick hair and I use ghd's salon styler, which has wider plates....It is fantastic.
    CHI Turbo!

    There immense!

I've had both GHDs and CHIs

    CHIs for the win!
    ghd straightners
    Solia Tourmaline Flat iron!!!
    ghd's :] x
ok ok i got this i got this great one for Christmas its a X-heat Cermatic Styling Iron =D it works really great an also use like a styling gel before you do it so it doesnt ruin your hair!
GHD's. I have extremely thick hair 2. When i had it feathered it went horribly wrong and stuck out everywhere so good luck.
The best one ive ever had has to be CHI but it broke :-(. I have this blue one ( i forget what brand it is) it works really good too.
    Ghds =]

I have really thick and frizzy hair and my hair straightener is Remington, it has wide ceramic plates as well as temperature control (it goes up to about 25 degrees), I'm very happy with it as it alsohas 2x protection on its ceramic plates in order to protect your hair from the heat. It straightens like a wonder and it heats up pretty fast. It's also very practical to bring along when you are travelling (which I happen to do a lot). And I would also suggest getting a hair cut to thin out your hair. A couple of years ago I got my hairstylist to really just thin out my hair and it's looked great ever since. It's also been very easy to take care of. I used to have short hair, but because its thinned out I can now have long hair (which I've always wanted)

    GOOD LUCK

    the skinny ones!
Chi's do not last long. Don't waste your money, and don't listen to the one's that are telling you it's the best. Sedu is one of the best straighteners out there and it is only $100.

To purcase a Sedu at the cheapest price, go to Folica.com , scroll to the very top and click on Hair Styling. On the left hand side, there will be and A - Z brand list. Find Sedu, click on it, and everything else from there is self - explanitory.

Also, with GHD's, I wouldn't reccommend them because of the price. Sedu is a lot better for cheaper.

I would also recommend using a 1 inch instead of 1 1/2 inch, because the 1 1/2 doesn't do curls very well.

    It reaches 410 degrees.

    Good luck!
I have really thick hair to,and i find that the Ghds my hairdresser has, work best on my hair.

    Chi hair straighteners?

What do you think about it? Any tips?Chi hair straighteners?
They are wonderful. I got mine last year and its still just like new and it straightens real well.Chi hair straighteners?
I love mine , I got it over the summer. I got it brand new on eBay for around $50 . It's a great hair straightener. There are probably better ones but, I think the Chi is one of the more famous brands. The straightener can't do all the work though. It's important to remember that the procedure before you straighten your hair makes a huge difference for how your hair will come out.
I prefer Hai over Chi, but it's a good brand nonetheless.
they work betta than any otha straightners, u should get one, and u dont have 2 put hair products in ur hair , cuz it works really good:)
they are definitely the best brand of straightener in my opinion.

%26amp;they can be expensive but they are worth it, and they are very good on not damaging your hair.
    most amazing hair straighteners ever

just make sure you use the chi silk products with it, and dont turn it up all the way
OMG they are amazing! If you dont feel like paying for them go to ULTA and get one thats by Zoe. They are fantastic as well!

    %26lt;3

    Shana
It's the best straightener I've ever used, but waaaaay expensive.

If you have the money to blow, I'd def recommend it.
they aree dfinately the best straightner out there. i got on after a hairstylist recomended it.

    o-mazin
    Chi was amazing ive used

you will find it in EBsilk in very good prices.
although its narrow, its efficient and reliable
Dont touch the metal part when it's on.

Baby Bliss hair straitners are LIFE SAVERS!Good hair straighteners?
The best straighteners you are going to find are going to be the expensive ones. My straightener was 150 dollars, and well worth the money. i have very very wavy/curly hair, and most people don't even realize that my hair isn't naturally straight! But if your hair isn't super curly, or If you're just looking for a store bought brand, then i would say hot tools have the best straighteners for cheap prices!
Well depends how much youre willing to pay.

The best straightener out there at the moment (as shown in folica)

is the Sedu, i own it myself and it isnt ridiculously priced. But

it is a triple digit straightener.

It works super good though, it hardly damages your hair, it doesnt

snag it and it lasts all day and through the night to the next day

Its price is $119 but its money well spent trust me
CHI workss awesome but is normally a tad expensive. normally you can find a brand new one on ebay for less than it retails for.

bed head also has pretty good ones.

theese are really good for really curly thick hair.

but if your hairs pretty straight you can just go get one at wallmarrt,

What are some good reasonably priced hair straighteners that work REALLY good, besides Chi? I'd prefer if they got to at least 400 degrees. Links to them will be very appreciated :)Profession Hair straighteners?
CHI's do not last long. They break way too easily. Don't waste your money, and don't listen to the one's that are telling you it's the best. Sedu is one of the best straighteners out there and it is only $100.

I would also recommend using a 1 inch instead of 1 1/2 inch, because the 1 1/2 doesn't do curls very well.

It reaches 410 degrees, with tempature control. CHI does not have tempature control. That means if the set tempature is too high for your hair, it can fry.

Celebrities have nice hair, and they don't use CHI. They use Sedu. There is something called Sedu hairstyles on every beauty website. No CHI hairstyles right?

Also, on Folica.com, people can post reviews on products after they have tried them. Here are they stats on CHI:

63 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of out of 1174 total reviews.

    Sedu:

20 people say it is 1 star (bad) out of 3724 total reviews.

If you have a Sally Beauty Supply in your area, you can get great flat irons there that are very reasonably priced. I tried to find a link for the one I purchased there but couldn't find it. But the brand is Jilbere de Paris and it was $35.

    Argos hair straighteners ?

Which do you recommend i should buy from the catalogue. I have long thick wavy hair.I will not buy them off the internet.Thanks.Argos hair straighteners ?
Babyliss pro 230. I've got some and they're brill. My hair is long and thick with a wave at the back and ringlets at the front, not pretty girly ringlets, but frizzy fork in an electric socket ringlets ! My daughter has GHDs and these are just as good and half the price. You can get them in Asda and Tesco cheaper than Argos.Argos hair straighteners ?
Well i don't have a cataloge here if u want cheaper i think KODO is a great alterative to GHD i have a pair and they work just as good as my mates GHD's. a pair that might be in their though are nickey clarke they were very good if not as good as mine cos another one of my mates has them. For the record don't go for babalysis (sp) and u need to spend usally 拢25+ minimum to get a decent pair which acutally work!
Go to a hair salon and buy GHDs they are expensive but worth every penny you will just waste your money on anything else i know i had 5 sets before i bought GHDs and none of them were very good
I agree with most other people on here. If you are buying cheap pair of straightener, they are not going to last and you won't get good results from them. definately go GHD - they are easily better than anything else out there and give great results. You can get them for 拢94.95 with free delivery from

GHD's are really the best but if ur gonna go for some from argos dont count on them being very good but sometimes the more expensive ones are ok. wavy hair sounds like fun though dont ruin it:D
    babylis Pro. AMAZING!!!!!
The cermanic one with black tile.
I have a Chi straightening iron and it's the best thing I have ever used!
Dont waste your money on GHD's!

    They're a big NO NO!

I used to have GHD's but they blew up in my hand while i was using them!

I now have treseme straighteners! I think i got them from Argos! They're so good and didnt take all the money from my wallet! =)
    Hey Hunny

Maybe you should save up to get ghd.

    Much better
i have spent a fortune on straightners in the past and eventually bought a pair of ghd's about 3 yrs ago on hqhair.com for quite cheap - about 75 i think which is cheaper than most. eventually through use the cord became a little dodgy and I sent them back to ghd to be fixed and they returned me a brand new pair with their compliments. goes to prove you get what you pay for especially in customer service with ghd!! id save up and get the ghds!!

    Different hair straighteners, different quality?

so i used my friend's conair straightener($30) and it worked just fine, and my hair was soft and didnt smell burnt. then i used my other friend's bedhead straightener($100) which worked the exact same. i dont know which one to buy, but is one really better than the other, and will it damage my hair less?Different hair straighteners, different quality?
To tell you the truth...I bought my hairstraightener from Wal-Mart ( weird right) and it is perfect! I've had it for over a year and it has never let me down! My husband always says you get what you pay for!! So if the straighteners worked the exact same...why do you want to pay all that money for something less and still reliable?

your best bet is the $30 straightener--you can always return it if your not satisfied!

Good Luck!Different hair straighteners, different quality?
the difference is not in the inmediate result, but in the long term use one, go with the bioionic if you can; at first glance the finished result is the same, but it trully protects your hair structure, so in the future you don't get straw-like broken hair.
The best ones on the market (from a hair salon) are the Bioionic. Pricey but worth keeping your hair healthy.

Boots Hair Straighteners - the cheapest - has anyone tried these? Recommended?

nope i have notBoots Hair Straighteners - the cheapest - has anyone tried these? Recommended?
Nope. I do find super drug does have good straighteners though. They're reasonably cheap as well. But sometimes the cheaper the worse. ):

    Try anyway! (:

    Home hair straighteners?

I was at the store today and I saw some chemical home hair straightener kits. I was wondering if they were any good. As of right now I am using straightening irons to straighten out my hair. But if these home hair straightening kits work, I was going to buy and use them.Home hair straighteners?
If you want your hair permanently straightened, then use a home kit. You may want to consult a stylist first. If you don't want your hair to be straight all the time, then continue using the iron. It's not nearly as harsh on your hair as those chemicals will be!Home hair straighteners?
they do work, just be careful they can cause a LOT of damage. When you use the comb to comb it through don't use the side with the teeth, use the flat end(trust me that's how the professionals do it). Be sure to condition your hair well the day before you do it %26amp; three days afterwards

If you need anymore help feel free to ask or you can visit my forum:

    http://mysticbeauty0.proboards74.com/ind/a>
Soft and Beautiful is a good brand. They come in Regular and Super. Super will burn faster than the regular will. And if this is your first time get the regular. It won't hurt your hair as bad. Just follow the instructions and it is best if you have a friend or somebody else do it. It's hard to do it yourself.

I use them all the time and they have never hurt my hair. They burn if you leave them in to long though. So you have to be careful and that little scale they come with don't go with it. Just leave it in until you feel a little heat.
I used one of them before and it killed my hair you should just use a flat iron this was you can wear it curly or straight. Good luck!
enjoy your hair the way it is...and be thankful you have it.
I've never done one but I've read that there are a lot of risks involved if you don't follow the instructions to the letter. I do know from my own experience, I have really strong hair and I went to a salon TWICE to get it chemically straightened and I still ended up with waves. It's not as curly as it was but I still have to use the iron every time. Its not a matter of how curly your hair is but how strong it is. So if you have strong hair you may end up wasting your time and money.

What brand of hair straightener do you think is best?

I've had straighteners that really suck so I need some help... thanx! What brand of hair straightener do you think is best?
i've heard that CHI or Sedu work really great, but the CHI breaks easily and there both pretty pricey!

good luck :)What brand of hair straightener do you think is best?
    ISO

    but they are around $200

but it doesnt do too much damage to your hair it heat up in 6 seconds, you can use it as a curler as well and it makes it really flat and straight and friizz free and its pink lol

    its worth it
it really depends on your hair type, and how you are straightening it. i tried chi and ended up hating it. go to a beauty supply store and ask what is right for your type of hair.
the tresemme heat tamer spray, it works for whatev u want 2 do, if u straighten it or curl it and it leaves it smooth and lasts a long time. its cheap 2!
Conair....definetly NOT!!! it damages your hair. But Herstyler is probably the best 1! They sell it @ those stands @ the mall.
GHD's DEFINETELY. There well worth the money. Icouldn't live without mine. It use to take me 30 mins to straighten my hair and now only 10 - 15. I love them.

Can hair straighteners damage hair? how to prevent it if it does? plz help.......?

i have a ceramic one.Can hair straighteners damage hair? how to prevent it if it does? plz help.......?
depending on how hot your straightener is .. if you keep on using it .. like everyday the end result is a lot of split ends and really thin hair .. but if you choose to use it all the time i suggest for you to use a serum to at least give some protection to your hair ;) if not just stop using the straightenerCan hair straighteners damage hair? how to prevent it if it does? plz help.......?
if you use it everyday then yeah but the same goes for hairdryers so nothing much to worry about just use it every second day maybe? by the way..................................donworry so much!
can? They DO damage the hair. No, You can't prevent the damage, No matter how hot it is, It will still damage your hair. You can get a heat protector, But that will only protect to a point.
    Yes it can.

Theres a number of ways you can prevent damage:

    -Turn the temperature down

    -Use a hair protector spray

-Use shampoos that help repair damaged and dry hair

-Or, don't straighten it every day (:

    Hope this helps! (:

Can Hair straighteners Burn out hair dye ,!!?

I have just dyed my hair black from brown I straighten my hair most days Can the hair straighteners Burn out the hair dye so my hair colour fades If so how can I prevent this,Can Hair straighteners Burn out hair dye ,!!?
only if you keep the straightner on one part of your hair for ages becuase my friends did it once. but if you just glide it through your hair like normal it shouldn't do any harmCan Hair straighteners Burn out hair dye ,!!?
yes it will make your hair fade faster. It wont be that dramatic of a fade if you blowdry your hair using a round brush because you can get your hair straighter without using the straightener. But after you blowdry your hair you can straighten it lightly to get your perfect look. this is better for your hair :) hope i helped.

What is Maxiglide? I wish there was a way that you could straighten hair without killing it...
Don't you hate it when people answer your question with a question or not at all? If you don't know the answer to my questions don't answer right? Yahoo Answers is a trip, everyone is dying for those two points!

Maxiglide is simply a 100% ceramic straightener, and it really does work. This straightner is made with ceramic plates, much like the Chi and some other lesser known brands. Other irons, that claim to be made with ceramic plates are actually coated and eventually that coating will chip away and leave you with frizzy hair! Trust me I have many $30 ';ceramic irons';. They do no work. Do you live anywhere near a simon mall? Your local mall may even be a simon mall and you don't even know it. If so, there are Kiosks in all simon malls where you can actually purchase an aswesome ceramic flat iron for 100 bucks. Depending upon how tight your naturl curls are, you want to get the small iron. Bigger irons are for people with big loose curls. I bought the 1 inch the iron for my tight frizzy curls. Look at my pic, thats me with straight hair pulled back into a bun. Let me know, and I will email you my natural hair pics.

  • What flat iron/ hair straightener would you recommend?

I have very thick, long, wavy, frizy hair. I would like to know what straightener you would recommend. I have the Instant Heat Ceramic-coated 2'; Double Ionic Straightener from Conair, but it still leaves my hair kind of frizzy. What flat iron/ hair straightener would you recommend?
Buy a serum, probably that will workWhat flat iron/ hair straightener would you recommend?
buy the new tigi bed head flait iron is very good but it allot of money like 70 dollar
i use Sunatchi straightening iron. it's a professional Japanese brand and works wonders!

it's pretty expensive but worth it.. i got it from a salon, so that's why.

overall, i would recomend getting a ceramic hair straightener where you can adjust the temperature, and DO NOT get conair.. its a piece of crap when it comes to hair irons
you need to get a conair they are cheap and non frizzy, only if you use the right shampoo .

The CHI breaks easily and has a very limited warranty. Try the Sedu. That is what I use and my hair is nothing but thick curls.....

In less than an hour (which is amazingly fast for me). plus i can keep it straight for 2-3 days with minimal touchups! It is great in humidity too. I blow dry my hair, smooth on some heat protectant (CHI Infra Treatment Thermal Protective) and straighten. It costs $115 with free shipping and a free flat iron heatproof holder! (It's totally worth the price!)What is the cheapest, best hair straightener?
    go to www.folica.com

you can find ceramic irons in that price range.

I got a solia for 80 bucks on this site, and it's my everyday iron at work.
Your best bet is a ceramic flat iron. My daughter is a master stylist at JC Penney and this is what she uses.
i would suggest buying a chi straightener for around $100

i love my chi, it makes my hair pin straight, so its deff

    worth the money

Maxiglide can make the curliest hair straight. It can be purchased at Bed Bath %26amp; Beyond %26amp; online. The bigger straightner (recommended for curlier hair) is $80 %26amp; the small is $50. Also Chi flat irons are amazing.

How do I use a hair straightener for the back of my head?

How like would I, how do you people get the hair on the back of your head?

thanksHow do I use a hair straightener for the back of my head?
To straighten the hair in the back of my head I have a mirror in front of me and behind me. I then reach behind my head and hold out the hair that I want to straighten. I then pinch the hair with the flat iron, straighten in, and repeat until I am satisfied. It's a little bit tricky at first, but pretty soon you'll get the hand of it and won't even need a mirror behind you.How do I use a hair straightener for the back of my head?
I flip my head over. Sometimes its really hard to reach certain sections, especially if you have long hair. My suggestion is to flip you head over, brush your hair out upside down, and straighten it that way. then when you're finished, flip it back right side up, brush it out again, and voila!
If you don't have a mirror that opens up on both sides to see the back then straighten it and use a hand glass mirror and face it towards the mirror while you're looking in the hand glass. Touch up from there.

  • Is CHI really the best hair straightener?

I've been wanting a straightener for a while now, and I keep hearing great things about CHI flat irons...what are the benefits?

Is it bad for your hair, because of the extremely high heat? Is it worth the money? If you don't think they are great, any suggestions for other types?

Help please! Is CHI really the best hair straightener?
I used to have a CHI. It works nice, I guess, but it dries hair out more, and mine broke after a few months. Now I have a T3 Tourmaline, which was about $120, so it's a little cheaper, and it works so much better. So yeah, CHIs are good, but NOT the best.Is CHI really the best hair straightener?
i hear Chi is the best, and then i keep on hearing Sedu and GHD are the best. any kind of heat on your hair is bad, thats why its best to use a heat protectant. I use a 40 dollar straightener i bought at my local beauty supply store and it works out fine on my hair. there is also a Chi knockoff from Sallys Beauty Supply called GVP, and i think its like 60-70 dollars. You could get a Chi off Folica.com or Amazon.com for cheaper. I think Chi, or Sedu, or GHD are worth it if you can get your hair straight like you came from the salon.
    Hi

I think the chi straightener is the best

it's not bad for your hair cause the plates are made special i think it's ions

maybe wrong. They also use it in salons

I find when i use it my hair is straight for days

    another suggestion is metropolis straightener
omg yes!! i have one and i loveeee it!!! it used to take me like an hour to straighten my hair, but with my chi it only takes like 10 minutes. and btw, idk if this is true or not, but i've heard that the limited edition chis (like the colored ones) dont work as well.
I wouldn't say that it's the BEST, but it works pretty darn well!

I straighten my hair every day and it doesn't fry it or anything, but I switch straighteners. Like one day, I would use the GHD, then the next day I would use the CHI.
My sister has a CHI and it works well. My hair stays really straight, though it seems to dry my hair out more. I use a sedu, and have had wonderful luck with it as well. CHI's are nice irons, but a GHD or Sedu also works well.
actually, they are. my mom has MANY flat irons at her salon, and this one practically TAMES the curl in frizz in customers hair. i also love this flat iron and i find it to work alot better than the sedu.
i use it and it works great!! my aunt's salon uses that brand too, im not sure if it's the best, but it works preety well for me..
i did heard that chi straightners r good...but im not sure cuz ive never tried it...i would like to try it out but if its a metal iron instead of ceramic....nty
yes, i have one and i love it

How can I convince my parents to buy me a GHD hair straightener?

so what hair straightener will work well on my really curly hair and doesn't cost over $100 maybe even less than that? What's the least costly hair straightener that would work on my curly hair?
TRUST ME.... HotTools has really really really good straighteners and are suprisingly very cheap. ive been using them since i was in 8th grade (im now a sophomore in college) and theyre typically $25-$35. they work great, i have mid-back length, very thick, curly hair and i highly suggest! What's the least costly hair straightener that would work on my curly hair?
Curly hair is sexy, I think it puts people 1 step above the rest in sex appeal.
well i know the chi flat iron works really good its like a $125

but trust me it will work cuz u got curly hair and it wont pull ur hair like others

i know cuz my mom owns a beauty salon and i straighten out ppls hair wit it
ok..well thers this one..its called conair..its only for $20 and it works soo good!!! i had it but someone stole it from me..and then i got a mAXIglide.... thats for around 80-90$$.... the conaire one is gold and white...i have extremly curly hair.it is gonna work sooo good. ...so really any of the two. i like the 20$ one..even tho its cheap..its works really!!! good!!
amazon.com has a special on the Farouk CHI, a beautiful ceramic straightener that works wonders on hair. it rained all day today and the mositure in the air did NOT frizz my naturally curly hair. it works wonders and does NOT damage the hair. it makes it shiny and VERY straight. I recommend it 100%

Hi does anyone know if SCP hair straighteners are any good?.?

I read about them on the net, They sound really good but i just don't know how good they seem fairly priced, Unlike the ghd's (gd but deer), so if anyone has a SCP hair straightener or knows someone who does who can tell me if they are any good there your reply would be greately appreciated.

    Thanks to any future replies.

S.L xxHi does anyone know if SCP hair straighteners are any good?.?
Not tried them, but if you want GHD standard go for KODO ones. I think their better than GHD (im a hairdresser and we used KODO in the salon)

They cost 拢49.95 from the site below (normally retail for around 拢90)Hi does anyone know if SCP hair straighteners are any good?.?
I swear by my GHD's there the best and every single girl and guys ( some of them) own them! Dont even consider buying another brand! I dare to think what i did without them! x
ghd's are very expensive but are so worth every penny, so save up and buy them, no others come close!
not sure but my girlfriend uses those ghd ones
i don't know bout them but i think GHD's are the best

Is there a really good hair straightener out there for me?

Because I have one right now that isn't very effective.

I'm looking for something less than $50.

    Something in stores.

Thanks. Is there a really good hair straightener out there for me?
There is this straightener i got from walmart for about 35 dollars. I think it was made in heaven! its called Remington ';wet 2 straight'; meaning you can straighten your hair when it's wet, but i dont do that and i wouldn't recommend it either! But use it normally, it is amazing especially for the price! Is there a really good hair straightener out there for me?
If you keep going to stores and spending 50$ or less on hair straighteners, they'll all be crappy, and sooner or later you'll have spent hundreds on crappy straighteners.

Save yourself the money and effort and hair damage and get a Sedu. It's expensive, but I have one and they're awesome. All my friends who have them love them. I don't work for them or anything, I hadn't even heard of it until my boyfriend bought me one. I've had mine for a few years and it still works great. I put the link to the one I have at the bottom. It's a little over 100$, if you're not in the US you might have to pay customs too.

My bf bought mine at Folica.com but there are probably other places too.
Hi i hope this helps any striaghtner is great expensive isnt always great the type of hair straightner you wanna look for is that it isnt verywide so you can reach the top of your head so you dont get the square effect, i would aslo get a pretector spray you sray on before you straghten it prectect your hair and makes it shiny and smoother
I hate to say it but you get what you pay for. The best is a CHI and its over $50 and in a salon. You can try revlon I had a decent one from them before my CHI. It straightens pretty good but it falls apart easily and pulls hair.
Try the Remington Wet to Straight straightener! You can use it on wet or dry hair, and it works really well! Plus, it is less than $20 at target!
You can find good Hair Weaving / Braiding / Styles / Extensions / Straighteners and their Shopping information at below Blog. It will definitely help you. Have a look at it.

    http://hair-weaving.blogspot.com/
yea i have a good one nd it was $20 its the revlon one that looks like a chi.
dont get me hating you !

please get a sedu , i PROMISE you wont regret it . theyre on sale for 110 on folica . com

  • What do you think is better? (hair straighteners)?

a wet to straight (which can straighten your hair while it's wet, right?) or just a regular?

    thinking about an infiniti 2';

any other recommendations? What do you think is better? (hair straighteners)?
    Remington wet to straight?

    I think it's good, i have it.

The Conair is probably the same quality.

For double the price. What do you think is better? (hair straighteners)?
No, Don't straighten it wet it doesn't come out as good. I take showers at night then straighten in the morning so I don't have to kill time drying it
Ooo. I recommend the best selling Infiniti鈩?Tourmaline Ceramic鈩?Wet 路 Dry Straightening Hot Air Styler---which is perfect and made for straightening your hair when it's wet. It is roughly around $60 or so.
dont get a wet to straight.. it super fries your hair.

a remmingtone.. its brown and pick, you control the exact temp. it's wonderful.
The best striaghtening iron by far that is out right now is the MAXIglide that you can be purchased on HSN(the homeshopping network) It works on all hair textures and types. It has 10 different settings and more types. It comes with Shampoo, Conditioner, and more... it's create and comes with an instructional DVD. Check out my source.

How can i use my hair straightener in england?

I have a brookstone 85 watt step down transformer... i want to use my ';remington wet to straight'; in england on a trip. Is this going to work? How can i tell if the conveter is for england or not? Im sooooo confused!!!!!How can i use my hair straightener in england?
i have that same exact straightener !!!

it will work !! trust me i went to England like 2 yrs ago and i brought my straightener with me

Is there a type of hair straightener that doesn't damage ur hair alot?

I used to have one that REALLY damaged my hair. And I stopped using it. But I look horrible without straight hair.Is there a type of hair straightener that doesn't damage ur hair alot?
All straight irons are going to damage your hair a little. The ceramic ones are the best. They smooth your hair follicle. There are ones that mask it better than others. I just got one from Sally Beauty Supply, its called a GVP. was about 60.00.. I LOVE IT! it works great and you can adjust the temperature. Is there a type of hair straightener that doesn't damage ur hair alot?
every straightner will put some sort of damge on ur hair. but u can use protective shampoo condition and mists that will prevent damage. u should use a wet2straight remington straightner i used it even without protective shampoos and it didnt damage my hair because u can change the heat level based on ur kind of hair. it is cheaper than chi but not as cheap as conair (never buy a conair straightner) and is great quality! only $ 30
Lol just use a good heat protection spray . I recommend chi . I heard its really good .

Lol i had the same problem as you . Just turn make sure the heat from the straightener isnt so hot . Make it a little cooler than what it normally is . Use hairspray so it'll hold thruout the day .

    Good Luck (:
Chi is definetely great, and won't hurt your hair, but it's a pricey.

you can try a cheaper one (not too cheap!) and use heat protection spray. It's very cheap and works very well in protecting your hair, and you only need a little bit. It even adds shine :)
Kiss GHD purple hair straightener will not damage your hair
All hair straighteners will damage your hair. But ceramic hair straighteners are the best to use. What you need is a heat protection spray.
All straightners will damage ur hair a bit, but i suggest u use ceramic straightners, they r really gud. Use chi, i hav heard they r gud.

What is a long-lasting hair straightener?

I straighten my hair quite a bit and I've had to replace my straightener 3 times in the past 7 or 8 months. I need a durable, GREAT hair straightener. Any suggestions? What is a long-lasting hair straightener?
use a good straightening shampoo %26amp; conditioner or learn to style your hair the way it grows -life will be less stressful. What is a long-lasting hair straightener?
My hair straightner is BARBAR and i use it all the time, i've had it for a year and a half and nothing has gone wrong with it, its great i highly recomend it.
    ghd is the best
my conair infiniti works really well i have had it for a few years now n i sometimes straighten my hair twice a day. it heats up fast and works really well.

    http://images-cdn01.associatedcontent.co/a>

thats what it looks like because i know that have made a few newer ones sine but i think walmart is getting them back in so check there.
what ever you do, i would not suggest a chi. two of mine just stopped working. i took great care of them and everything. they just refused to work after a while. :'(

i have heard that the bedhead products were good, though.

i also own a conair infiniti from walmart as a back-up. it works pretty good. i've had it for two years.
Your hair is gonna be fried when your 60.
Chi. It's at target for 100 dollars. Me and the girl in pic used chi and her hair is coarse thick and really curly. Mine is fine thick and wavy.

I just bought the pink limited addition chi hair straightener. good or bad choice?

I really wanted a straightener that is good for my hair, that wont, or is less likely to damage my hair. so i wanted to know your opinion on the chi straightener.

thank you so much!I just bought the pink limited addition chi hair straightener. good or bad choice?
ive had 2 chi's. they work phenomenally, i have super thin hair and they still didn't fry it. so i advise if your going to spend the money on a straightener, then a chi is worth it.[=

    * before i bought my chi's. i was told by my hair dresser that the pink chi's actually don't work as well, and are more likely to have difficulties .

bakar.I just bought the pink limited addition chi hair straightener. good or bad choice?
the chi is awsome ! i have it and i love it ! if your worried about damageing your hair use a heat protectant. i use tresseme heat tamer spray....you apply it before and after you straighten your hair. you can buy it at wal mart and for like 3 bucks its really worth it.
i've spent hundreds on cheapo's i get pissed and throw them out. my hubby bought me a chi a couple of months ago and i love it! it gets hot really quick. my hair stays straight and it has a nice shine to it. you'll like it.
    excellent choice!:)
Mostly all straighteners damage your hair honey. But it is a really good choice. The chi works awesome!
my hair is super curly and it works really well on my hair.

they're kind of expensive, but wellllll worth it!
very good choice! that's what celebrities use.

I have been using a hair straightener recently, what products should I use to help the damage?

I got a straightener for Christmas, and I want to use it every day. I have that kind of hair that doesn't look good if you don't do anything with it. It's not curly, wavy, or straight, just kinda... floppy? Lol, can't think of a better word. :p So what kind of shampoo should I be using, and should I be putting products in my hair before/after straightening? Around how much will they cost and where can I buy them?I have been using a hair straightener recently, what products should I use to help the damage?
put a heat protection spray before straighten your hair

    try Dove Heat Protecting Spray

it is the best! It is only like $5 and works very well

and deep condition your hair weekly with mayo or other hot oil treatment

from loreal or doveI have been using a hair straightener recently, what products should I use to help the damage?
I totally understand where your comming from, Please what ever you do, try lay off a few days of strightening a week. Maybe weekends if your not doing anything or maybe the day after strightening tie it up. you don't want to ruin your hair now.

Use a nice shampoo like treseme, or a salon kind.

You need to put product in before, I find the spray ones better then the gel. Also to help split ends you might want to use some moisturiser for you hair.

It might cost you a bit, but if you want your hair to look goos, your going to have to be spending a bit.

You can get this stuff from a supermarket for cheap, or the local hairdresser even, but that will cost a little more (:

I hope this helped and good luck
Use shampoo, conditioner, leave-in treatments that claim to straighten your hair.

Use heat protectant spray and straightening serum so you don't damage your hair as much because the heat protectant spray lessens the damage and if you use the straightening serum, you don't need to straighten as much.
Straight out n tell ya...ya need a heat proof spray or lotion prices variey
All hair types have the potential to look good. You don't really have to straighten your hair every day. If you have any curl or wave, you can encourage more, and that could end up looking good. Really well formed curls, without the frizz, look great. To encourage your natural curl, you can use any shampoo, then condition. After conditioning, with your hair VERY wet, add a good amount of any cheap mousse (there are curl types, but any will do), use a lot, and scrunch it in your hair, adding even more water. You want it very wet. Hang your head over, and scrunch and scrunch. Wrap it loosly in a towel and squeeze out some of the water. Scrunch more water out with a dry towel. Pantene makes an excellent Pomade/texture product (small jar, not expensive, sorry, can't think of the name, but it's easy to find...very thick product, you only use a tiny bit). This pomade, scrunched in after as much water as you can scrunch out (it's all about the scrunching) just a tiny bit of this product, it will ';set'; the curls in. Using lots of water with the mousse makes the hair form into nice thick curls, and the pomade helps them hold with shine and softness (better than hair spray). Expensive shampoos and conditioners aren't necessary. Remember, hair is already dead, so all you can do is prevent it from getting damaged. You can't actually ';repair'; hair...only smooth it and use products to make it look healthy. I use to use about $50 worth of product on my curls every month, but then I learned how to encourage my curls using lots of cheap mousse and water. I now spend about $4 per month, and someone compliments me on my hair every day.

  • Where can I find a hair straightener that will keep my hair straight all day?

i live in florida, and i loove... the humidity. it makes my hair freak and by the end of the day my hair looks like a mess. any suggestions? i'm just tired of dealing with it. help please!Where can I find a hair straightener that will keep my hair straight all day?
You need to invest in a CHI straightener. My hair frizzes like crazy and is very hard to handle. Once I finally shelled out the money for a high quality straightener I definitely noticed a change. Even my mom (who already has straight hair) used it and said she could tell her hair was way less frizzy. I even caught her sneaking into my bathroom to use it lol. Mine cost about $120 dollars on sale at Target, but you could probably find them online for cheaper.

    p.s.

I also live in Florida, right by the beach so I feel your pain!Where can I find a hair straightener that will keep my hair straight all day?
in my opinion, chi flat irons are the best out there. I have lived in new orleans all my life, so i deal with the humidity on a regular basis as well. A chi will keep my hair silky smooth until it gets wet/ washed.
i live in florida too, i was born in miami but i live in jacksonville now, and i use extra large straighteners where i can control the heat myself and i use straightening mousses and sprays!
No to the CHI. the cord breaks way to fast. mine only lasted 2 weeks and it broke, and i've had 2.

I have the SEDU flat iron, rated the best flat iron in the world. :)

    keeps mine straight for days
Use this im black and my hair is really thick and it keeps my hair striaght for X amount of days. It really works trust me. Heres the link for it

Any ceramic straighteners from salons are great. They take seconds to heat up, have a reasonable price, and last long!... I've compared muliple store bought straighteners to salon bought straighteners and have come to conclusion that I perfer salon bought ones better. :)
depends on the type of hair as to the thickness of the straightner but GHD is about the best you can get
    CHI! (the original)

Which is the best ceramic hair straightener?

I want to get a Solia, which is much cheaper than the Sedu and the chi but still has good reviews on folia.com. However, my mom wants to pay even less money because she can get a better deal on a chi. i know chi's get a bad rap for being crappily made, but which is really the better straightener?Which is the best ceramic hair straightener?
chi really is the best. and though its way ixpensive theyre worth it! i have one.Which is the best ceramic hair straightener?
chi. i have it and it's amazing! also, wigo and hot tools are good too!
i have a chi and a solia, there really isn't much difference in the way they work...
    GHD
I love my herstyler. They are a new line and work very well. They are pretty expensive though ($200) but they make hair really straight and shiny. They can also be used to curl and flip hair. They also come in really cute colors!

Which chi hair straightener should i get, the original or the turbo? and should i get the 1 inch or the 2 inch?

I have thick curly hair that goes to a little below my shoulders. And whats the difference between 1 inch and 2 inch? Thanks!Which chi hair straightener should i get, the original or the turbo? and should i get the 1 inch or the 2 inch?

    Effective in-expensive hair straighteners?

On the market these days are all sorts of gadgets claiming to be the best, what really are the best deals on hair straighteners for naturally curly hair? Have tried all sorts, has anyone found the Ideal brand??Effective in-expensive hair straighteners?
    Remington wet 2 straight.

They are just as good as GHD's and they cost me 拢20!!!!!!!

Hope this helps and you get some good ones!Effective in-expensive hair straighteners?
i have naturally curley hair and it's frizzy too. until i tried the straighteners from BRAUN which have satin ions that prevent your hair from going static. it also protects your hair from getting burnt so it doesn't reck your hair. if you blow-dry your hair Straight first, it works better. my hair isn't really frizzy now, just wavy :) hope this helps, they aren't that expensive tbh x

this one works sooo good! i have naturally straightish wavy hair but it gets rid of my frizzys and makes it like poker straight..and my sister has veryyyy curly hair, like its all over the place. haha but wen she uses this straightener it looks really nice like ashlee simpsons lol and its not expensive. :)

Infiniti by Conair works really good.

%26amp;%26amp; it costs under $50 %26amp;%26amp; you can find it at your local wal-mart =)

  • What are ghd hair straighteners?

how much are they? where do they sell them? why are they so special? do they work really well? thanks =]What are ghd hair straighteners?
they are amazing straightners that are better for thick, longer, curly hair, etc. i have one it was about 205(canadian), but i bought the best one. you can buy them at any sephora store (DO NOT BUY THEM OFF THE INTERNET UNLESS ITS GHDHAIR.COM OR SEPHORA.COM becuase there are so many fakes!!)

-they straighten like no other (i have really really thick curly, long hair and it tkaes me 15 mins to straighten and it stays straight and shiny until i wash it, everyone thinks my hair is naturally straight!!

-it controls the heat for you so you cant burn your hair

    - it heats up super fast

-will work ANYWHERE in the world

-comes with a 2 year warranty which is more than any other straightner

-you can do beach waves with your hair, curl it, etc.

    it-s amazing!

buy it!! - you will love it lol! i actually love mine its like my baby and it still hasnt broken which all my others did. its really worth the money you spend - i promise!

-let me know if you decided to get one!

p.p.s if you buy it in store at sephora you get something free because every 100 dollars you spend you get something free. i got a clinque face wash and clinque mascara!!!What are ghd hair straighteners?
I'm assuming your not in Australia, but here they are about $300 AU. They should sell them in most hair salons and big retail outlets etc, or try looking on the net for the official GHD site. i dont know what makes them so good, but they are really good straighteners. Ceramic plates can be heated to higher temperatures and apparently don't damage your hair as much. Other than that i have no idea :)

Yes im a guy, but i've used them and they are pretty damn good :)
the best bet is not to be cheap if you don't want to fry your hair.

ceramic is what i've always used and it keeps you from getting split ends more than any other kind. i don't think the brand really matters as much but anything ceramic is best. ceramic also heats up very quickly. also i wouldn't get anything that says it will do something amazing like turn your hair from dripping wet to perfectly straight. things like this never work and there are really too good to be true. the straightener i have i think went for 30$-something and i bought it 3 years ago.
ghd straighteners are the best in my opinion :)

They are quite pricey but websites such as www.beautychoice.com sell them for cheaper. You can also get them off the ghd website. Just search ghd in google and you can find the right website for your country.

You can also use them for curling hair as well as straightening.
    OMG!

    U dnt no what GHD's r?

    they cost around $200/拢100

You can buy them cheap off the internet

They work really good but they give you alot of split-ends, they damage your hair easliy, but if you have uncontrolable hair, i recomend them..

    Heres More Info:

    http://www.ghds.co.uk/

    good luck
the run 100-150 dollars. They have ceramic plates and generally salons buy them. Comprable brands are Chi and Sedu. I don't have personal experience with ghd, but chi and sedu are great and you can get them at Ulta or Folica.com for about 100-150.
    go to Folica.com

the best striahgtener i have found is

    the maxiglide straghtener,

and they have the best prices

    on straighteners on that site.

    They are about 拢100 ($200)

you can buy them from salons or their website

they reach high temperatures, and they are very effective =]

    yeah they work great!!!!!
I searched it on google they are so good because they are used and were created by proessional hair stylists and you can buy them form argos or any sort of chemist or department store ranging from 50 to 100 pounds
conair is the best one. w/ the plate that gets really hot and lets you ajust the temp. it's only about 20 bucks.

Could a hair straightener that is plugged in but switched off also socket is off, cause a fire?

the appliance is off but still plugged into the socket, which is also switched off. could a fire occur.Could a hair straightener that is plugged in but switched off also socket is off, cause a fire?
yes, when sockets are not in use remove all appliances.thunder storms and lightning can still cause surgesCould a hair straightener that is plugged in but switched off also socket is off, cause a fire?
i do it all the time. but you should try not to just incase.
unlikely, unless your socket or iron had a short
You say that the socket is switched in the off position. Unless you live alone, with no pets, and no one else has a key to your place, - including parents or past tenants or old boy/girl friends, and you are sure that you have turned the power off at the switch every time you leave , then the odds are extrremely remote that the hair straightener will every be the ignition source of a fire.

I'm also curious as to whether or not you keep your hair straightener on the bathroom sink vanity, and if so, is it plugged into a switched GFI outlet? A GFI outlet is a Ground Fault Interruption outlet, where by if there is more than a very low amperage of grounding (I think it's 1.4 amps) the GFI protected electrical outlet or the GFI protected circuit, will ';trip';, and the power will be ';interruped'; to that circuit or outlet immediately, (the electricity will be shut off so you do not get electrocuted - a little bit of a shock - maybe - but usually not even that.

Anyway, if you wanted to be ';extra'; sure that you had a safe installation, you could do this:

    1. Check your Hair straightener for a Tag that idenifies the electrical requirements of the appliance. What you are interested in is the amp draw, of amp rating of the machine. Lets just say its 12 amps. Most Modern day power panel boards in homes are 100 amp services set up using 15 or 20 amp circuit breakers, (I believe 20 amp is more common here where I live, and there are also 30 amp breakers for the dryer, and the 80 gallon water heater for the whirlpool tub.

Anyway - let's just say for the purposes of our example that the hair straightener draws 12 amps if you have 15 amp circuit breakers, ( or 18 amps if you happen to have 20 amp circuit breakers), When wiring commercial projects - power and lighting circuits are separated. In residential construction that is not necessarily true - although it should be. The point is this, - as a home is wired for power and lighting, the electrician is supposed to try to ';balance'; the circuit loads - while filling up the circuits without overloading them, - and keep then in roughly the same zones in the house, spearating interior from exterior, power from lighting, and leave room fore future growth - usually about 15 - 20% of the panel capacity should be open as ';spares'; once the house is wired.

The Problem is that in the last two decades the power demands for home lighting and home security and home electronics have doubled over what they had been, and in some cases tripled. Houses constructed in the 60's and 70's routinely had 60 and 80 amp services installed - (and that left plenty of room for spares). But with the advent of home computers, Atari, X-Box, GameBoy, Home Security Systems, Home theatre Systems, Smart house Electronics, Built in Speaker and Intercom systems, Multimedia Centers, Infloor and Fogless mirror heat tracing systems, pryotech windows that can go from clear to black and all shades in between by electriclly charging metalic sputter coated glass , heads up displays in bathroom mirrors, microwave ovens, plasma TVx, Central AC systesm, whole house humidification %26amp; dehumidifcation systems, and whole house air change systems, - and on %26amp; on, and now people are even installing automatic power transfer swirtches hooked up to exterior 150 KW emergency generators. And then there are the extravagant exterior light displays, and sound systems, and heated drive ways, and outdoor pools, and saunas, and hot tubs, and green houses, - you name it, and it's got a motor or a heater in it. As we switch away from internal combustion engines to more earth friendly alterrnatives , electric alternatives seem to be the first on the scene - lawn mowers, hedge trimers, weed wackers and blowers, and robots.

But I digress, back to circuit loading; if we say your hair straightener draws 12 amps and is on a 15 amp circuit, that does not leave a lot of ';amps'; - only 3 - to draw on before we exceed the limits of the breaker - and it trips because we over loaded the circuit. So either you were lucky enough to have your hair straightener on a ';dedicated circuit'; (meaning it's the ONLY appliance on that circuit), or what ever else is on that circuit is never used when you are using your hair straightener, or whatever else is on the circuit is drawing less that 2 amps - like a bed side alarm clock - or a plug in air freshener.

    1. Anyway I mentioned additonal safe-guards. Check the plug end of the hair straightener. does it have 3 prongs or just two? If it has just two, is one of the two prongs notice ably larger than the other , (Kind of belled out at the end?) Ideally it should have 3 prongs - each one different. One prong should be a straight uniform blade, the next should be a blade prong also but with the wider bell shaped end. The third pronf should be ';U'; shaped instead of a blade and have a curved tip. This 3 pronged plug end only fits into a modern 3 hole power outlet one way. Are your power outlets the three hole or two blade hole type? If the end of the plug on the appliance is 3 pronged and your outlets are 3 holed to recieve it - great. if not, have your dad or someone handy around electricity replace the outlet %26amp; cover, and also put a 2-to-3 adapter plug end on your plug end. (Get the adapter with the ground wire that he can wire to the cover mounting screw to ground the appliance.

    2. Before he buys the new outlet %26amp; cover - have him open up the panel board and look at the Circuit breakers, see if they are the GFI type or not. (All Circuit Breakers Have a orangy/red tab in the middle of the breaker that flips manually and automatically from ';ON'; to ';OFF'; - that does not make them a GFI circuit breaker. GFI circuit breakers that I have installed have a greenish yellow button on them below the breaker switch that ,pops out, (trips), when the groud gets feed back above the specified load, - same principal as the GFI Outlet - except that the GFI circuit breaker is protecting the whole circuit - not just a single outlet. (Most people prefer the GFI Outlet , - over the circuit breaker GFI). Anyway if the circuit is GFI protected, then there is no reason to buy a GFI outlet. If the circuit is not GFI protected, then I suggest you consider installing one. This will have given you belt and suspenders protection.

Now if you want GUARRENTEED protection against a fire - unplug the appliance after each use - and you will never have to worry about it. Good luck.

    I'm pulling for you
the socket alone can cause a fire(very rare)even when in the off position things get old %26amp; short out with seemingly no reason
highly unlikely, unless you left it on a flammable surface while still hot. but that would have nother to do with it being plugged in.
Yes, it could. It's not likely, but any outlet that has an electrical current running to it has a chance to start a fire. If the cord is broken anywhere or stripped, or if the wiring in your home is old the risk of fire greatly increases.
Probably not. A straightener that's ON is barely going to be hot enough to cause a fire.
