Which heat setting should I use for a hair straightener?

I have no idea which heat setting I am supposed to use for hair straighteners, that won't damage my hair. My hair was really thick, but this summer, I got it thinned out, and now it's like, medium. I think I probably only need it for flipping hair, at the ends, and maybe sometimes for complete straightening. Also, should I use something so that it won't damage my hair? If so, what? Thank you :)Which heat setting should I use for a hair straightener?
I turn mine all the way up and my hair is like medium as well. I always make sure I have a base in my hair though. I like to use volumizing mouse, then blow dry my hair and then use a straightener. Which heat setting should I use for a hair straightener?
