you might want to thin your hair. i mean, salon people are educated in the art of doing hair, it's their job. to make it easier on you, i would thin your hair, or layer it. layering gives it more depth and makes it much easier to straighten.

also try blow drying it before straightening it. blow drying it using a round brush and heat spray (to protect your hair from damage caused by using heat) and then straighten one piece at a time, making sure you go over it more than once.
well they have this con-air straightner thats like 27$ and if you take your time to starighten it it will look fine but um,you may need to cut ur hair cuz sumtimes hair is really damaged
Sounds like you need a better flat iron. Try a CHI or a T3. They heat up to 410F or more and they are made with tourmaline technology. Salons have excellent flat irons. Save up and invest in a good one, you'll be glad you did, it'll save you time everyday, it's worth it. Pick up a friz sirum too. They only sell in salon but they do wonders. Because everyones hair is different, the over the counter ones at normal stores wont always do it for everyone. You only need a dime size amount at a time so spending a little extra may be worth it. Especially with thick curly hair, you may need a sirum rather than just a friz control jel kind of thing. Good luck.
The chi straighter is your best bet. It is about 100 dollars but it is well worth the money. It makes the curliest hair silky smooth. But be careful... the chi is extremly hot and can damage and cause breakage to your hair especially if you have bleached hair like me. I would NOT use it everyday and be sure to use a heat protectant before use. I use silk therapy and it seems to stop the breakage.
that means you're hair is damaged. you need to find a repair serum or a cream that will work for you :: put some in your palms and work through your hair BEFORE you straighten :) and then, I'd advise using a gloss or olive oil sheen (especially on your ends) afterwords. this should help prevent damage and keep your hair straight longer. the stuff you're using right now is probably too light for your hair. try to find some heavier moisturizer/leave-in conditioner that won't leave your hair feeling too oily.
