Can a guy using a hair straightener reallly see a result like this?

http://www.folica.com/For_Men_348_1.html

is it really possible to use that thing to go from the first to the second pic? How exactly do those things work, my hair is sorta curly and I want it to look nice and thin and straight like that guy, do you think using a straightener would help? Can a guy using a hair straightener reallly see a result like this?
I think it does really work, though the result may depend on how your hair is in the first place.

If I were you, I'd ask your hairdresser, s/he'll know better than we do and will probably even do it so you can see.Can a guy using a hair straightener reallly see a result like this?
Hmm, well, it can be possible, but you probably know most of those before and after pics are fake. If you have a good straightener then yes it will do a good job, BUT it's going to destroy your hair if you do it a lot. :-/ My hair is really damaged and I constantly have split ends because of how much I straightened my hair (and I used a product that was supposed to protect my hair.)

Yeah a straightener will help. Be sure that it gets hot enough. The brand doesn't matter as long as it's ceramic and it gets hot enough (of coarse that means more damage to the hair though). If your hair isn't very thick or super curly then you can probably get away with a little lower heat setting, but if your hair is very curly and thick, you will need one that gets hotter.

I have a cheap $30 straightener from walmart that works just fine on my hair. If your hair is as thick as the guy's in the picture though, don't buy a $20-30 hair straightener in most cases because it might not work well. However, that doesn't mean you need to spend $150 for a good straightener.

If your hair isn't too long, I suggest you get a 1' thick straightener, because a thicker one is going to be harder to get close to the roots and use.
In the first pic, the guy has his hair curled...it's not naturally curly. Also, the straightener is overpriced. I would suggest going to Wal*Mart, buying a $20 hair-straightner, and grabbing straightening protective cream for hair along the way.

First, apply the protective cream as specified on the bottle. Then, straighten your hair piece by piece.
