There is one that you can buy at Wal-Mart for around $25-$30. Its called Remmington's Wet 2 Straight Flat Iron. It works wonders on all hair types.
Anything from Nicky Clarke, Andrew Collinge, Tresemme, Remington or Vidal Sassoon. Believe me, I know which ones really work, since I've tried them. For more infromation go to www.boots.com Many of them are on sale right now, and you'll be able to find them at £30 or below. You could also try Superdrug
£100 more- get urself some ghds...they will last longer, and they are the best thing yet!!!
I brought some Babyliss ones in the Argos sale for £14 and they are very good. If you look in Argos website, sales, you can gets some good deals.
Revlon and Vidal Sasoon work best for my wavy/kinky hair. Don't by any hair straighteners that can straighten your hair while wet, they'll kill your hair like dry it make it frizzy and damage it.

I've no clue how that translates into US dollars, but for the price, Remington Wet2Straight ($30 US) is the best iron I've used - rivals a CHI, really.
I don't know about your currency, but there's a Remington Wet 2 Straight that costs about $30 in American currency. It's the best straightener for the price. I love mine.
