I highly recommend the CHI. It is a ceramic flat iron which is less damaging to the hair. Your hair will be silky. Regardless of what straightner you use, protect your hair from the heat. My ritual is as follows: I apply CHI Silk infusion (dime size amount) and then rub it throughout the hair (non-greasy). Next go ahead and flat iron (I recommend using a non-sticky heat protecting spray such as Aveda Brilliant Damage Control). Spray the sections very lightly prior to applying the straightner. After finishing, I apply Farouk Biosilk Silk Therapy (dime size amount and non-greasy) and it leaves the hair smelling so GOOD and it feels super silky. If this is something that you are going to be doing on a weekly basis, condition your hair once a week with a deep conditioner. i have never heard of that. But i love my straightener. It is a chi and heats up really fast and works great on any kind of hair. I love that it only takes me like 10 min. to straighten my hair and i have really thick hair.

I have heard that they are really good, but have never actually used one. I own an FHI and it's the best! It's better than a Chi because it heats up in under 15 seconds, and it only takes me about 10 minutes to straighten my hair, which is abnormally thick and wavy. So if your looking to get a good straightener, get an FHI.
