My hair is very dry and damaged due to frequent use of my hair straightener. What products can help my hair?

Almost everyday I use my hair straightener because I like the straight, sleek look it provides but now it seems harder to straighten and is causing my hair to be very dry and unmanagable. With so many products out there claiming to restore moisture and managability to dry, unmanagable hair I don't know which ones to pick. If anyone has found some, not to overyly pricey, that have worked for them please let me know. Thanks! My hair is very dry and damaged due to frequent use of my hair straightener. I would use a deep moisturizing conditioner at least once a week. Also, try washing your hair every other day. Stylists swear that dirty hair actually holds styles better than clean hair--plus it will help to not strip out essential oils and moisturizers that tend to go when you wash your hair. I would also suggest having an ';off'; day where you don't use yoru straightener so your hair can relax. Another suggestion is to keep your hair trimmed regularly. This will help the ends look softer and less fried. I use the Pantene Deep Conditioning treatment that comes in a jar. Several companies make these, and I switch between brands a lot.

One other thing--the type of flat iron may also be to blame as well. Are you using a ceramic iron? These are great! They straighten hair a lot faster and you don't have to use very high heat either. If you use a regular straightener with the metal plates, you probably have to straighten your hair several times to get it the way you want. By try investing in a ceramic straightener. They are a little pircey, but so worth it. I bought mine at Sally's Beauty Supply. And when I straighten my hair, I don't blow dry. I wash, then go to bed and get up in the AM and straighten my hair.My hair is very dry and damaged due to frequent use of my hair straightener. What products can help my hair?
Try using shampoos and conditioners designed for sleek hair. Matrix Sleek is an excellent line. Also use a smoothing serum. It will protect your hair from the heat and humidity.
CHI iron gaurd. its 10 bucks at ULTA and most selons..and it works plus it smells oh so great. lol it works though, because i have the smae prob.
Step 1: Stop straightening every day!
Well, first, you need to get a hair cut... Get all those dead, fried ends cut off. Then in the future, before straightening your hair apply a heat protector spray such as tresemme heat tamer. not only does it protect hair from the damage of heat styling products, but it also makes hair silky. I also use a moisture renewal shampoo daily to keep my hair moisturized if it does get dry.
i don't know what it's called but it's a redhead product.
I have had similiar problems. Two products I'd recommend are: 1 - Henna and Placenta conditioner. It comes in a brown and white packet, and you can get it anywhere, like Brooks, CVS, Walmart. It's only about $2.00 for the packet. I've been using it once a week and it's been awesome. It will make your hair really soft and smooth. I was really surprised how well it worked since it was just $2.00 - definitely the best $2.00 I've spent in a while. Someone on yahoo answers told me about it actually, and it was great advice! 2 - Citre Shine Hair Laminator. This you can also get anywhere, it's about $5.00. It's a spray that you spray on your dry hair and it does a lot for your hair's texture. Your hair should become smoother, softer, and of course, shinier with it. You can take it out with you and spray it on throughout the day if you want, and it smells pretty good.

Also, maybe try a leave in conditioner spray, like Thermasilk or Pantene.

Good Luck! :)

i highly reccomend it, its not greasy at all.
The first thing you need to realize is that the chemicals you are

';frequently'; using to straighten your hair will likely continue to cause damage, regardless of whatever products you use to try to protect the same hair. The second thing you need to know is that hair is the non-living product of structures (hair follicles) buried several mm. below the surface of your scalp. This limits the amount of benefit you can accomplish by applying products to the hair itself. Finally, presuming that you are not suffering from common pattern hair loss (a disorder which affects the actual living structures that produce visible scalp hair), your hair should recover its normal healthy appearance when you stop damaging it with the hair straightening chemicals. Probably not the answer you wanted to hear, but it happens to be the truth.
