Clean your flat iron with rubbing alcohol. Use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol. and wipe it on the plates while the flat iron is turned off. Then wipe the alcohol off with a tissue. yes, just wipe it off with a wet rag
Try rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover. Do this when the straightener is turned off.
It can, just take some kleenex and wet it a VERY tiny bit and rub it all over the residue. It works for me!
