Recently when I've been turning my hair straighteners on they've given off a burning smell but when I look at the plates there isn't any 'gunk' on them and they're hardly worn, I don't use any protection sprays before straightening and I don't wear mousse or hairspray hence theres no gunk so I can't really work out why they've suddenly started to smell when heated! Anyway how should I clean the plates without causing any damage to them, and what things should I definitely avoid cleaning them with?Cleaning hair straighteners?
